The installation package
For a small bathroom remodel, require a dimensioned layout that includes finished wall thickness, fixture projections and door operation. Small changes can conflict in a tight room, so coordinate the shower, vanity and toilet before procurement. List any adjacent finishes that must be repaired when the bathing area changes.
Before accepting a proposal
Check that the written proposal names the products, defines the demolition boundary and explains the connection to retained work. Identify any allowance or unresolved selection, and ask who coordinates the relevant trades. Agree how concealed conditions will be documented and how changes require authorization. A broad installation label leaves too much room for different assumptions about what the finished project includes.
Can a compact layout be priced from floor area alone?
No. Tight access, plumbing positions and the selected assembly can dominate the work. A proposal needs fixture locations and installation details; the room's square footage is not a substitute for scope.
