Compare the installation packages
Compare the solid surface fabrication and seam schedule with the tile layout, setting and joint schedule. Specify substrate and waterproofing separately for each, and align the bench, niche and enclosure design. Without that alignment, proposals can be pricing different showers under a material comparison.
Normalize the proposals
Use the same dimensions, fixtures and enclosure features for both options, then isolate the work that differs. Mark demolition, substrate preparation, connections and finish restoration as included or excluded. Ask each contractor to identify the condition that would change the recommended assembly. This exposes a real scope difference instead of treating two product labels as a complete comparison. Where either option requires specialist fabrication, identify who measures and approves those components before ordering.
What belongs in a fair material comparison?
The same dimensions, accessories and plumbing work, plus each system's preparation and installation requirements. Product-only figures leave out the work that makes the finish function as a shower.
