Compare the installation packages
A cultured marble scope centers on panel measuring, fabrication, handling and edge details. A tile scope adds layout, setting and grout work over a specified waterproofing assembly. Compare backing and water-management responsibilities in both; large panels do not make those layers irrelevant.
Normalize the proposals
Use the same dimensions, fixtures and enclosure features for both options, then isolate the work that differs. Mark demolition, substrate preparation, connections and finish restoration as included or excluded. Ask each contractor to identify the condition that would change the recommended assembly. This exposes a real scope difference instead of treating two product labels as a complete comparison. Where either option requires specialist fabrication, identify who measures and approves those components before ordering.
What can make panel fabrication more involved?
Windows, niches, angled walls and accessory openings require coordinated dimensions and details. Confirm who verifies them, and compare that fabrication work with the tile layout work required for the same features.
