The installation package
Treat curbless installation as a floor-and-drainage package, not an enclosure upgrade. The scope should identify any floor recess, structural review, drain arrangement, waterproofing extent and transition to adjacent finishes. These decisions determine the assembly before tile or glass is selected.
Before accepting a proposal
Check that the written proposal names the products, defines the demolition boundary and explains the connection to retained work. Identify any allowance or unresolved selection, and ask who coordinates the relevant trades. Agree how concealed conditions will be documented and how changes require authorization. A broad installation label leaves too much room for different assumptions about what the finished project includes.
What should be resolved before a curbless proposal is finalized?
How the required floor build-up and drainage will fit the existing structure. A contractor should describe that approach and any unresolved investigation, rather than assuming the finished floor can simply be lowered.
